Need for speed hot pursuit 2 car1/17/2024 It’s another thing to additionally punish the player with penalty seconds if he or she does so much as to scratch his/her tire on the sidewalk. It’s one thing to set the time limits for a gold medal so strictly that they basically can‘t be reached without driving absolutely flawless plus taking all the available shortcuts possible. In the end i turned all the grafics except for the resultion to the lowest setting possible in a desperate attempt to achieve an at least somewhat playable state of the game, but it STILL has infuriatingly frustrating stuttering that constantly keeps f*cking it all up. I tried turning shadows completely off, but the improvement in performance was marginal at best. Still this f*ckin' piece of sh*t has absolutely awful slow-downs, stuttering and framerate drops, even when i don’t max out the grafics. I'm well aware that it's not even average anymore by today's standards, nevertheless it runs recent games like the Resident Evil 4 Remake on almost maxed out settings falwlessly with barely any noticeable framerate drops. Seriously, my system (i7-7700, NVidia GTX 1060, 32 Gigabyte RAM) greatly surpasses the recommended specs. Needless to say that if you want anything better than bronze, you can basically restart every race against the clock after touching the wall more than once or twice, which will happen quite often in a racing game, especially when it has such horrible technical problems as this one. Those f*ckers just keep popping up in the most inconvenient spots like in curves or right behind elevations, happy to add literally dozens of seconds to your timer. Even if you memorize the race tracks like the f*ckin‘ Google maps algorithm chances are that the randomized traffic will screw it up for you anyway over and over again. Seriously, this game would give you half a minute of penalty just for breathing too loudly if it could. Even if you just geeeeeeently touch a civilian car with the tip of your driverside mirror, you’ll get 3 seconds added to your timer. NFS Hot Pursuit has the glamourous idea to add additional penalty seconds on top: even if you just sliiiiiiighty grace the tunnel wall with your spoiler, you’ll get 2 seconds added to your timer. When you race against the clock and you ram a car or hit the walls, you’ll not only loose precious seconds because of the loss of speed and control, oh no. It is just you, your competitors and the police in races for first place or races against the clock and especially the later ones ruin the whole game with one thing: the penalty system. There is no car tuning and customizing except for choosing the color of your car, there are no tournaments, knockout races or any other fancy race variations and there is no cheesy storyline. It is stripped back down to the deepest roots of the series (and i really mean the NFS 3 from 1998 kind of roots), which in itself is anything but a bad idea, but it perverts this simplistic principle with a sh*tton of horribly bad design choices and very poor technical performance. I haven‘t played the original from 2010, so i have no comparison, but what i can say about the remaster is: It seriously rivals NFS Undercover in being not only the worst NFS game, but also one of the most awful travesties of the racing game genre. But let’s start from the beginning:Īfter the „semi-realistic“ approach of NFS Shift 1 and 2 i was really looking forward to go back to the most barebones arcade-racer-basics possible with NFS Hot Pursuit and just put the pedal to the metal. Because NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered already managed to p*ss me off so thoroughly after not even a handful of hours that it is basically impossible for this game to redeem itself in any way. I think this is the first time in about 3 years that i write a review for a game before actually finishing it. F*ck EA, f*ck Criterion Games, f*ck this game, Need for Speed is dead as sh*t to me.
